Ko-ko for The Kooks

Last night I went to The Kooks' concert with my friend Jordan who had won free tickets on 5gum. The location was unknown so we we dropped off at some Maitland school and from there, many buses were picking up everyone to take them to the 'secret location' which was basically 5 minutes away.

The venue was awesome, it was like this huge warehouse! We got free 5gum as we walked in.

First a band called Beach Party played following by December Streets and then the gap between December Streets and The Kooks, we had a tiny little power nap on the floor.

The Kooks, they were amazing. I knew only half of their songs and today I shall be spending the day downloading continuous song of theirs. When they played my favorite song, Shine On, i went crazy. They are just crazy insane and beautiful.

Either one of his legs were always dancing, and his hair was just so cool.

And when they had finished we ran up to the gates to see if they would come back, and they guys who were packing up threw some of their picks out. I looked everywhere, until I moved a coke can and underneath sat this

A sign to start guitar.

I am forever changed by The Kooks, this sounds lame but I feel like i know them personally now because they were just so close and so in touch with the crowd. Amazing people.

Journey of a Hat Rainbow Cake

So seeing as I love baking and sweet stuff, even though ive been intolerant to wheat for over a year and a few months now, nothing can give me that feeling of pride and accomplishment than the way baking and decorating that cake or biscuit till its last touch can do. I love adding crazy new twists and toppings, adding possibly everything sweet and chocolatey to make it look even more beautiful!

And I'm sure you have all seen what a rainbow cake looks like, well hers the picture which I aimed to make mine look like but very successfully failed:

Its so beautiful. And seeing as it has always been one of my missions in life to make one of these bad boys i decided i would so i could tick that little box on my bucket list. Made it on a day I was supposed to be at school, think I was studying or something but i just remember it was a school day, and in the middle of the baking I decided i would give it to James, as it was his 13th birthday celebration barmey!!!

I actually made an album on facebook called JOURNEY OF A RAINBOW CAKE. I think people thought i didn't have a life.

haha so yeah, i'll take you on the same journey...REWIND AND FLASHBACK!!!

so lets start duh duh duh duuuuhhhh.. okay well first, you got get those appliances really and make sure you got all your ingredients and enough for incase something goes wrong.

And then you mix up all those secret ingredients, yes thats right, this is a secret crabby paddy formula just like Spongebobs', and I gotta protect it with all my might!

Next is next, you add those bright colors  what you think is too much is actually too little. They need to be luminous in color in order for them to shine out after they've been cooking all half hour long.

Then you continue the same cycle, choose a variety of colors, which ever your heart desires! <3

This is how i made orange, very simple, take the two primary colors which are not green, combine and mix 'em up!

To make purple, you take the two primary colors which are not yellow (hint to the previous mystery) and stir. It may look too dark, but trust me its not.

I got board of waiting in anticipation for so long while them cakes were baking, so I noticed the eggs shells lying around with no purpose and decided to line them up, and draw all those tumblr faces on them, you know the ones, Derp for example?

Check out those beautiful looking Sponges, you see, i really am Spongebob ;) let them cool for a bit!

And now its ice-making time. No not actual ice, but soft, smooth butter icing time. Add that icing sugar, butter and the best smelling but worst tasting ingredient; Vanilla essence.

Once thats done, choose a color for your icing if you desire, i decided to leave it creamy and white. Time to get down to business, lets MOVE THAT BUS! Joking, lets ICE THAT CAKE!

Begin with icing the first layer, then add another sponge ontop, and continue to do so until all the sponges have been used and you cake has been pilled and stacked together with your cementing-like icing.

As you can see at some point of stacking my leveling was uneven(this is very important to look out for) and my layer cake ended up looking like the hat from The Cat in the Hat's hat! Thus my name for my cake reasons.

And last but not least, decorate what you must and have as much fun as you can! Notice the speckled eggs, my all time favorite as I mentioned in my previous post. Its a lifestyle.

After I posted the album on facebook everyone was dying to see it cut open and how it looked inside, I managed to get a quick shot of it at the Barmy!

It was pretty darn beautiful :')

You might feel the need to eat half the icing, I don't know why but i just sometimes happens. You might feel quite sick. I don't know why but i just sometimes happens.

So yeah, the pot of gold at the end of my journey of the rainbow cake was a lot of hard work and dedication, but it was a lot of fun and with every new adventure a new life lesson is learned; mine being patience, the fact that I had to wait 45 minutes for each pair of cakes to bake. And I got to tick that box. And had a really cool Barmy! So yeah, Peace Cats

Waka about Wakaberry

So, heres to post to haha, Hello there, if there is anyone there. Thought about what I should post today in the car on the way back from Mastermaths when  my mom decided to treat me and my friend Charlie to my favorite obsession right now; Wakaberry. I'm sure you've seen it, those big blue pillars and that bright pink sign, or maybe you've heard it. What is this Wakaberry do you ask? It is a frozen yogurt shop. But why it is so unique and fun is that they have added the adventure of it being a self-service mission. What I mean by this is that they are soft-serve machines which contain this amazingly delicious soft favored icey yogurt and as you walk in, you take a cup, and fill it with whichever flavor those enthusiastic taste-buds of yours desire. They flavors differ from Mixed Berry, to Condensmilk, Peanut Butter, Cinnamon Hot Chocolate to even the crazy ones like Green Tea, and many, many more! My top favorite at the moment are:

  • Vanilla
  • Cookie Dough
  • Mixed Berry
  • Grape
  • Cappachino
  • Cherry
and well normally every time I try something i haven't tasted yet. And well I'm kinda obsessed and even made a "Wakaberry bucketlist"..obsessed I repeat.

And after you've filled that cup to even the point where its over-flowing, you get to the topping section, where you pile on sweets from sprinkled fudge to flake, to cherries and even muesli for those early risers, and my personal favorite, sour worms and speckled eggs!

And once you've basically finished the circle, you get to the till and you little cup of joy is weighed and priced . The spoons are just next to the till when you've completed that circle, just so you don't eat half of it because you just can't wait any longer. And like most people, they snap a picture of their new beautiful piece of work, giving everyone the chance to be a proud artist.

You've all heard of that song by Shakira that goes something like "Waka Waka eh eh", well thats how the name was inspired, as it is a Proudly South African business and arose at the time of the Soccer World Cup in 2010.

Here are a few of my creations:

So, after my two hours on maths after school, I was able to enjoy one of these little creations, Vanilla, Grape and Bubblegum with sour worms and speckled eggs!

Megalopic

So I figured that it was time I started a blog. Well, my blog. Please excuse and grammar errors and spelling mistakes; for I am in the current process of becoming a professional ;)

I haven't given much thought to what its going to be about or what i'm going to post, lets just say that whenever I got the time and the space, ill post.

It took me a while to figure out my URL, I first wanted to do something on the idea of existentialism, ill post about that one day but then i decided that since this blog was going to revolve around me, might as well incorporate a bit of my name into it. Yeah go and look at it now, try guess my name.

Did you try Lopic? Yeah that's my name, well done. My parents named me Lopic because they had a' pic' of my appearance in their heads and 'lo' which is an exclamation used to draw attention to an interesting or amazing event, (you can look that up) which was my birth of course  So it was either Piclo or Lopic and seeing as 'Piclo' sounded the same as that ugly green creature from Dragon Ball Z, you'll know the one, they decided to go with Lopic. Yeah you're thinking my parents are mental, hey? Well just like all normal parents, they all can be a bit mental. Excuse my contradiction, that's if you noticed.

Its funny 'cause when I was about 5 years old and discovered this magical show, I wished my parents had chosen Piclo.

But I got you. Ofcourse, my name is Meg. Well, Megan but please do call me Meg. I was googling (I just turned a proper noun, yes proper, into a verb) all these words which i have never heard abouut that contained the word 'Meg'. There were 135 to be exact, i thought the coolest one was by far homegirl. I didn't see it either at first, just take a look again.

The word Megalopic comes from the word Megalops, which is a genus of Tarpons which are large fish.

The term 'megalopic' is actually an adjective, meaning to have large eyes. I found it relevant and interesting because no, I literally don't have big eyes, but I metaphorically, or actually i'm not sure how to describe what trying to explain but I have large eyes in the way which I see things and am able to pick up tiny details in things, and the way in which i appreciated the things I achieve or get given. I look at it at a different viewpoint to you, that I can assure you.

Megabyte, well lets just say these posts are going to be like little 'bytes' or should I say nibbles with mega impact on my life, or my not be relevant at all. Well, lets just say it had some effect on my mind.

So you just had a 'byte' on the first course, did it taste like pomegranates?

Meg, or should i say, Lopic.
